Pharmacist dusted for distributing 160,000 opioid pills.

• A federal jury in the Southern District of Texas recently convicted a Texas pharmacist for conspiracy to unlawfully distribute and dispense opioids and maintain drug-involved premises.
• Sokari “Momma” Bobmanuel of Houston was the owner and pharmacist-in-charge of Cornerstone Rx Pharmacy, which illegally distributed nearly 160,000 opioid pills.
• Bobmanuel, through Cornerstone, distributed controlled substances outside the scope of professional practice, and without a legitimate medical purpose, to individuals who bought prescriptions in the names of other people.
• These individuals then sold the pills they bought from Cornerstone on the black market. Bobmanuel charged exorbitant prices for her pills generating over $1 million from the scheme.

• The Texas Department of Insurance Division of Workers’ Compensation unveiled several factors that make dump trucks dangerous.
• The risk of tipping over increases once the box’s center of gravity and the load are not between the frame rails. Thus, making the truck’s end-dump unit stable when raised is important.
• Another factor that increases the risk of tipping over is uneven load distribution. This can cause the truck to be unstable and make the wheels rest unevenly.
• When a load is packed unevenly, it will affect the proper dumping flow, causing materials to not flow from the top side of the box.

Wisconsin firm faces $277, 472 in penalties

• The operator of a north central Wisconsin meat and sausage manufacturing plant might have spared two employees from suffering serious hand injuries by following required machine safety standards
• OSHA investigated how a turning auger on a meat processing machine at Abbyland Foods Inc. amputated the top of a 37-year-old worker’s finger in December 2022.
• The agency received a second report worker’s injury at the plant a month later when a sliding guard on a trash compactor crushed a 23-year-old worker’s hand.
• The two investigations led to citations for a repeat violation and 17 serious violations and OSHA proposed $277,472 in penalties.
