While the Department of Labor has accepted 86 percent of the COVID-19 claims for federal employees, it accepted only 7 percent of the COVID-19-related claims from longshoremen and other harbor employees between April 2020 and October 2021, according to the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO. North Carolina officials say hospital failed to report employee’s COVID-19 death
A hospital in western North Carolina has been fined almost $30,000 by the North Carolina Department of Labor for alleged violations including not reporting a work-related COVID-19 hospitalization or the employee’s subsequent death in November 2021.
