Former fireman faces felony insurance fraud charges

A 41-year-old Denair, California man has been arraigned on four felony counts including insurance fraud, grand theft and perjury for allegedly claiming to be too injured to work and simultaneously collecting more than $94,700 in workers’ compensation while also working for another employer. The man injured his knee while on duty as a City of Hollister fireman and, as a result, could not perform his duties and received wage loss benefits from June 2016 to June 2018.
