State Workers’ Compensation Agency Must Reinstate Judge Shannon Riley
- The New Mexico Worker’s Compensation Administration must reinstate Judge Shannon Riley while she challenges her firing over an alleged violation of the judicial code of conduct, according to a May 8 order from the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.

New York SIF Expands Healthcare Workplace Climate Action Credits
- The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) is expanding its Climate Action Premium Credit program, which helps policyholders manage the workplace risks associated with climate change by providing financial incentives and technical support for climate action planning and implementation.
- NYSIF’s hospital policyholders were initially the only allowed participants, however the state’s not-for-profit workers’ compensation insurer program is now open to additional providers of healthcare services as well as entities engaged in the medical supply chain.
- The program provides participants with an upfront credit of 5% on their workers’ compensation premium, up to $1 million per policy, when they pledge to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, enhance their resilience to climate-related disruptions, and develop a climate action plan describing how they will meet these goals.
- This frees up funds participating policyholders can use to develop their climate action plans over the next 10 months, NYSIF said in announcement last week.
