Colorado Sets Info Sessions on New Physician Choice Rules
- The Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation (DOWC) is holding listening sessions in September and October 2025 to get stakeholder input on policies related to House Bill 25-1300, which goes into effect in 2028 and expands physician choice for injured workers.
- HB25-1300 expands physician choice for injured workers, allowing them to choose their primary treating physician from any Level I or Level II accredited physician within the DOWC’s list.
- Employers will be required to inform injured workers of their right to select a physician within certain distance limitations.
- The meetings are part of the DOWC’s effort to determine the best implementation policies and tools for the new law, which will allow injured workers to select their own Level I or Level II accredited physician.
- Stakeholders must register in advance for the virtual 90-minute sessions to participate and provide feedback on key topics like clarifying in-house clinics, improving the provider directory, and enhancing the accreditation process.
