An unauthorized party gained access to SAIF documents

Window washer received illegal benefits
- A man in Franklin County, Ohio, pleaded guilty to one count of workers’ compensation fraud while receiving over $34,000 in benefits from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC).
- Donald Roth pleaded guilty to the fifth-degree felony on Nov. 17, 2022, in a Franklin County courtroom.
- The judge ordered Roth to pay the outstanding restitution to BWC of $30,793.26, after $4,005.28 was previously recouped, and sentenced him to five years of community control.
- An investigation proved Roth was actively working at his business and receiving BWC disability benefits between Feb. 2019 and Feb. 2021.
Restaurant workers dealing with mental stress
- Overall injuries among restaurant workers were down in 2021, but psychological issues are taking their toll, according to AmTrust Financial.
- Mental stress injuries were up 71%, incidents of fainting increased by 61% and inflammation saw a 35% increase.
- Strains increased by 23% increase and dislocations were up by 11%.
- AmTrust reported that cuts are 30% more common than falls, but expenses incurred for fall claims are 410% higher.
Workplace violence and harassment remain a huge concern
- Workers worldwide have endured workplace violence or harassment, but only about half of the victims disclosed those incidents, according to the International Labor Organization, Lloyd.
- Many of these workers viewed disclosure as a “waste of time,” feared their reputation, or were unclear about workplace practices.
- The survey showed that 22.8% of the respondents experienced at least one form of violence or harassment.
- Of those who endured the violence, 31.8% indicated they faced multiple forms of incidents.
